Anouk van Zwieten
the tension between spontaneity and composition
Anouk van Zwieten’s work is a material reflection of her personal, daily experiences. Her painting process is a dance of observing, doing and thinking. She often starts a painting by making a quick sketch with paint on canvas. The sketch will trigger associations to which she responds. In her work she explores the tension between spontaneity and composition and in that quest, refers to painters that went before her, like René Daniëls and Amy Sillman.
