dramatic visual stories based on elements of superstition, the rational and the metaphysical
The Amsterdam based artist Mazen Alashkar has been experimenting with crossovers between art, science and philosophy. He believes that art is perfectly suitable to address substantial and urgent questions. In other words: we need to look at the world anew and recapture our existential authenticity as humans.
In this light Mazen is, among other things, exploring different forms of interactions with water. His research includes the meaning of water now and before, rituals with water, technological hydraulics and scientific research all in one. His dramatic visual stories are based on elements of superstition, the rational and the metaphysical combined.
