cross-over from the inside space to the outside space
In his work Robbie Cornelissen zooms in on the experiencing of space, a broad theme covering the personal mental space of the architectural and the public space. The cross-over from the inside space to the outside space is crucial. This in-between space is the central theme of De Wachtkamer (The Waiting Room, Tokyo, 2019). It is an inside space with an unclear function and size, a world floating in a black cosmos with many exits. It looks like a spaceship, something moving towards new experiences and other continents. The drawing is the sum of 25 drawings, separated and connected by a grid.
The starting point of this drawing is a sketch by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki for the library of Oita.
