Romy Muijrers about her work: ‘I meander back to a lost time when drawing. I let the shards of memories and time come together on paper, to form a compounded image’.
By ripping and reshaping paper, she shows us the unpredictable, vulnerable and organic quality of the landscape, time and memories. This is how she constructs her inner world to the desired imagery where she presumably likes to dwell in most of all.
For UtrechtDownUnder Romy executed a total installation with both flat and spatial drawings. Her drawings consist of layers of real time and inner time, which she attributes significance to in both the flat as well as the spatial elements. All of the surrounding space becomes part of the work as a result. Visitors can envision meandering right into her head.
