In this cellar, the dead were kept in the Middle Ages. The rich among them were embalmed.

Hence the cellar was known as the basement of the gravediggers. The console in the wall refers to this as well as the facades of the houses at the top of the canal with the text ‘The Golded Coffin and The Three Seas’.
