Under Control

Early 2015, the prison doors of the former prison at Wolvenplein opened to the public for the first time. For the second edition of UtrechtDownUnder we were locked up in jail!

Over 8000 people visited the art exhibition in cells, adjoining rooms, the chapel and the courtyard. Under the theme ‘Under Control’, the public could visit this Rijksmonument, a cellular prison from 1853, for a month.

Artists were called to respond to the subject under review. Around the exhibition was an extensive edge program with theater, lectures and guided tours presented to the public.
