- In Short
Jorn van Leeuwen
Until recently, the geranium was a major focus in the work of Jorn van Leeuwen. He drew and photographed it, cultivated, uprooted and cut it. To Jorn, the geranium is a primeval plant.
In early works, the geranium was composed of many layers of blue and red, against a pitch-black background. But new motives are showing themselves. The geranium no longer being the main element. The worlds created by Jorn become vaster, stranger and more mysterious.
He makes a personal selection out of today’s huge quantity of available imagery and adds it together to compose a stillness in time. This stillness is enhanced by thousands of pen strokes; which renders the way his work emerges intense, almost meditative.
